Barry Ellsworth

President and Founder

Barry Ellsworth is the Founder and President of First Home Inc. Originally from Utah, Barry has lived in Las Vegas for over 25 years. He went to college at Brigham Young University, where he earned a BA in Communications, before embarking on a 40-plus-year career in the financial world. His early stints at Dean Witter Reynolds, Wilson Davis Securities, and Prudential Bache laid the groundwork for his later success in the financial arena, during which he raised hundreds of millions of dollars for various projects.

Over the years, Barry has been involved in and funded various business ventures across diverse industries, from defense, construction materials, food and beverage, to entertainment, energy, and large-scale industrial construction.

As the founder, and former CEO and Chairman of Green Plains Renewable Energy (now Green Plains, Inc – NASDAQ: GPRE), he chose the locations and raised the first $200 million needed to construct the company’s first two ethanol plants. His plants were built in the middle of the cheapest corn in the country. Those plants were paying circa $.26 a bushel less than his nearest competitors, which allowed Green Plains to keep its head above water during the housing crash. That allowed the company to acquire numerous plants out of bankruptcy in the next few years, making Green Plains, for a time, the second largest ethanol producer in the world. Barry likes distressed properties.

GPRE has helped lower fuel costs nationwide and has contributed to cleaner air in both the United States and Canada by powering tens to twenty million vehicles each day with environmentally friendly ethanol blends.

Mr. Ellsworth is now channeling his expertise and innovative approach on a national basis to create affordable housing through First Home Inc at a time when it is so badly needed.
